Ernie's Fudge Pie
Ernie'S Fudge Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter, 3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened baking chocolate, 4 eggs, 3 tbsp. white karo syrup and 1 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Over very low heat or in microwave, melt butter and chocolate squares.
Place eggs in mixing bowl and beat until light.
Add syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla to beaten eggs; beat again.
Add slightly cooled chocolate mixture to egg and sugar mixture.
Mix thoroughly and pour into a 9-inch pastry shell.
Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes or until top is crusty and filling is set but still somewhat soft inside.
Do not overbake.
Pie should shake like custard so it will not be too stiff when cool.
Can serve plain, but is best served with a topping of a thin spade of vanilla ice cream.
