Cream of Garlic Soup

In large pot, combine ham, onion, garlic and potatoes.
Add butter and oil.
Sauté until onions are tender and potatoes are cooked.
Add chicken broth.
Purée in small batches and return to pot.
Blend in cream and half and half.
Heat through but do not boil.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serves 6.
