Chocolate Pie
Chocolate Pie is an moderately easy dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 20 minutes. Made with c. milk, sq. chocolate or equal amount cocoa (6 tbsp. cocoa plus 2 tbsp. oleo), c. flour, . salt and egg yolks, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Scald milk (with squares of chocolate, if used).
Mix flour, sugar and salt (if using dry cocoa, mix with dry ingredients). After milk scalds, mix in dry ingredients; cook until thick.
Beat yolks.
Add a little of the hot mixture to the egg yolks and mix thoroughly, then add yolks to the rest of the hot mixture.
Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from fire; add oleo and vanilla.
Let cool before pouring into baked crust.
Top with Cool Whip or meringue; bake to brown (if using meringue).
