Chicken Hekka
Chicken Hekka is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. boneless chicken, 1 clove garlic, crushed, 1 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper and 1 (8 oz.) can bamboo shoots, undrained and sliced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
In skillet, brown chicken with garlic.
Add salt and pepper. Add bamboo shoots and mushrooms, including liquid.
Add carrots and simmer for 3 minutes.
Add sugar and shoyu and simmer for an additional 3 minutes.
Add watercress and green onions until desired tenderness or crispness of watercress.
Season to taste. Yield: 4 to 6 large portions.
