Butterscotch Nut Fudge

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan.
Add brown sugar and heat to boiling.
Add the granulated sugar and sour cream.
Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
Cook to soft ball stage (238° on candy thermometer).
Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm (119°) without stirring.
When cooled, beat mixture until it is thick enough to hold its shape.
Add the vanilla and nuts and quickly spread into a greased pan.
Cool and cut into squares. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen pieces.
