Buttermilk Biscuits
Buttermilk Biscuits is an easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sifted martha white self-rising flour, 1 tsp. sugar, 1/3 c. shortening, 7/8 c. buttermilk (1 c. less 2 tbsp.) and melted butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Preheat oven to 450Β°.
Sift together flour and sugar.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk and stir with a fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth.
Knead gently just until smooth.
Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut into rounds with floured 2 1/2-inch cutter.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush hot biscuits with melted butter.
Makes 10 to 12 biscuits.
