Boiled Cake(Grandpa'S Favorite) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. sugar, 1 c. raisins, 1 c. coffee, 1 tbsp. shortening and 2 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Mix sugar, raisins, coffee, shortening, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and nutmeg in 2-quart saucepan.
Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt into cooled mixture in saucepan.
Grease and flour 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan. Spread mixture into pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 40 to 45 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes.
Remove from pan and cool completely.
Serve each slice topped with applesauce and whipped cream.
