Baked Meringue
Baked Meringue is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 8 egg whites, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 tbsp. vinegar, 2 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, salt and baking powder 10 minutes or until stiff.
Add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time, at slower beater rate.
Add vinegar.
Beat 10 to 15 minutes longer. Add extract at the end of beating time.
Bake in a 9 x 12-inch pan, greased on the bottom only.
Preheat oven to 400Β°.
Place pan in oven.
Turn off oven.
Do not open door until cool, at least 3 hours.
