Apple and Cheddar Gratin
Apple And Cheddar Gratin is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. granny smith apples, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices, 1/2 c. raisins, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 ??? fresh lemon juice and 3/4 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
In a well-buttered 1-quart shallow baking dish, arrange the apple slices and sprinkle them with the raisins, the cinnamon and the lemon juice.
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, the flour and the salt.
Blend in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal (I use the food processor for this) and toss the mixture with the Cheddar.
Sprinkle the Cheddar mixture over the apple mixture and bake the gratin in the upper third of a preheated 350Β° oven for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender. Serve the gratin as a dessert or as an accompaniment to roast pork or ham.
Serves 4 to 6.
