Scald 2 cups milk. Remove from heat and add 1 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar. Let cool. Dissolve 1 package yeast in 1 cup warm water. Add to milk mixture when cool.
To this add enough flour to make soft batter. Let rise until double, then add 2 cups flour, 1 1/2 heaping teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and a scant 1/2 teaspoon soda. Mix well and refrigerate in large covered container.
Make rolls as needed. Will keep in refrigerator approximately 2 weeks or make out and freeze. Makes approximately 42 rolls.
