Swiss Steak
Swiss Steak is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. beef round steak (1-inch thick), 1/4 c. flour, 1/4 tsp. pepper, 1 tsp. salt and 3 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Combine flour, salt and pepper; pound into meat.
In large skillet, brown meat on both sides in hot shortening.
Top with onion and tomatoes.
Cover; cook over low heat about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
Or, transfer to a 12 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish and cook covered at 350Β° for 1 1/2 hours.
Add green pepper; cook 15 minutes more.
Skim off excess fat.
Thicken juices, if desired.
Season to taste.
