Sweet and Sour Pork
Sweet And Sour Pork is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. fresh pork shoulder, 1 tbsp. shortening, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1 large green pepper, cut in strips and 1 c. sliced celery, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Have pork shoulder sliced 1/4-inch thick.
Cut into 2-inch strips, removing bone.
Melt shortening in large frying pan.
Add meat; brown lightly.
Add Dr. Pepper, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar and ginger.
Cover and cook over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 hour.
Add celery and green peppers; cook 5 minutes.
Mix cornstarch with some of the juice from the pineapple.
Stir into meat mixture.
Add pineapple with rest of juice.
Cook until green peppers are barely tender.
Serves 6 to 8 over rice.
