Sweet and Sour Beans
Sweet And Sour Beans is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 8 slices bacon, 4 sliced onions, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. vinegar and 1 tsp. dry mustard, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Fry bacon until crisp; set aside and crumble.
Slice onions thin.
Separate in rings and cook in bacon fat until tender. (Drain about half of the fat off first.)
Stir in sugar, vinegar, mustard, garlic powder and salt.
Simmer 20 minutes.
Drain all beans, except pork and beans.
Combine with onion mixture and bacon.
Bake in a casserole or bean pot for 1 hour at 350Β°.
This makes a lot but it freezes well.
