Stew Fried Beans
Stew Fried Beans is an easy dinner. Made with 1 qt. string beans, freshly picked and washed, salt to taste, 1 tsp. sugar, oil (to cover bottom of iron skillet) and water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Prepare fresh green beans by snapping into 1/2-inch pieces. Pour oil to cover bottom of iron skillet.
Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of sugar and salt (enough to season beans) over the oil in skillet.
Heat over medium heat until sugar begins to dissolve and crystallize.
Place beans in oil and cover with tight lid. Water in beans will cook out.
If beans begin to fry, add small amount of water and stir to prevent browning.
Takes about 30 minutes to cook tender.
