Sopaipillas
Sopaipillas is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour, 2 tsp. salt, 4 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 c. shortening and water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Sift dry ingredients together.
Work in shortening with fingertips until mixture has the consistency of cornmeal.
Add just enough water to hold together.
Let rest in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Roll dough to thickness of 1/8 inch and cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.
Fry in deep oil until crisp and brown, about 3 minutes on each side.
Drain and serve hot.
For a sweet bread, roll in cinnamon-sugar after frying.
Makes about 6 dozen.
