Sopaipillas
Sopaipillas is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour (all-purpose), 1 1/4 tsp. salt, 3 tbsp. sugar, 3 tsp. baking powder (clabber girl) and 2 tbsp. shortening (crisco), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Sift flour; measure and sift again with salt, baking powder and sugar.
Cut in shortening until the coarseness of meal.
Add enough milk to form soft dough, but firm enough to roll.
Cover bowl and let dough stand for 30 to 60 minutes, then roll 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board and cut in diamond-shaped pieces.
