Smith Island Pound Cake
Smith Island Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 sticks butter (soft), 1/2 c. crisco, 5 eggs, separated, 3 c. sugar and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Cream butter, Crisco and sugar until fluffy and light.
Add egg yolks one at a time, then salt and vanilla.
Mix well.
Add flour one cup at a time alternately with milk and water mixture. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour into greased and floured large tube pan.
Place in a cold oven; turn to 325Β°.
Bake 1 hour. Very moist and delicious!
