Wash potatoes; do not peel.
Cut potatoes into 1/2-inch slices.
Arrange slices in a 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish or a 9-inch pie pan.
Melt butter; stir in onion and dill weed, basil or thyme.
Drizzle over potatoes.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake in a 375Β° oven for 60 to 70 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
