Scotch Chocolate Cake
Scotch Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 22 minutes. Made with c. flour, sifted, c. sugar, c. buttermilk, . baking soda and margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Measure sifted flour and sift together with sugar.
Set aside. Stir baking soda into buttermilk in cup and set aside.
In a 2-quart saucepan, melt the margarine and stir in cocoa and water. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and remove from stove.
Add sugar/flour mixture gradually with spoon.
(You will not need electric mixer.)
Stir in buttermilk mixture and then add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
Turn into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350Β° for 30 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.
While cake is baking, prepare frosting.
