Red Devil's Food Cake
Red Devil'S Food Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. sour milk, 1/2 c. shortening, 2 c. sugar, 2 egg yolks and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Cream shortening and sugar, add egg yolks, add milk alternatly with flour, salt, baking powder (sifted together).
Melt chocolate in double boiler, add baking soda, boiling water (mixture will fizzle up).
Let settle and cool slightly.
Mix with cake batter. In small bowl beat the egg white until stiff.
Fold egg whites into batter.
Pour cake into 9-inch cake pans or 13 x 9-inch loaf pan. greased and floured pan).
Bake in 350Β° oven about 35 minutes.
