Red Cabbage with Apples

Wash cabbage; cut as for coleslaw.
Peel and chop apples.
Heat fat in large saucepan and cook apple and onion gently 3 to 4 minutes.
Add water, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, cloves, bay leaf and lemon juice.
Stir; bring to boil.
Add cabbage; mix well.
Cover; simmer 45 minutes or until tender.
Sprinkle flour over top.
Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
Mix well and cook 5 minutes longer.
