Pound Cake
Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 sticks butter or margarine, 1/2 c. crisco, 6 large eggs, 3 scant c. sugar and 1 small can carnation milk, plus enough water to make 1 c., this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Cream sugar, Crisco and butter until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each.
Sift flour before measuring, then add baking powder and salt.
Sift twice more.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla.
Pour into a 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and floured.
Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until done, at 325Β°.
