Pare potatoes and cut into very thin slices.

Chop onion. Place a layer of vegetables in a greased baking dish.

Sprinkle with seasonings, parsley and diced bacon (rind removed), and dot with butter.

Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with potatoes.

Pour in milk and sprinkle top with grated cheese.

Cover and bake in preheated moderate oven (350Β°) for 45 minutes.

Uncover and continue cooking until potatoes are done and top layer is brown.
