Mix flour, 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter with a mixer for 2 to 3 minutes, until fine particles are formed.

(You will want to let the butter soften first.)

Press this mixture in a 9 x 13-inch pan (ungreased) and pat it down firm.

Sprinkle pecans over this.

Now make a caramel with 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar.

Put this in a pan at the same time and cook at medium heat, stirring constantly, until the surface begins to boil.

Cook 1/2 to 1 minute longer.

Pour over pecans.

Put bars in 350Β° preheated oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

When you take it out of the oven, sprinkle the chocolate chips over.

When melted, spread them.

When cool, cut into bars.
