Peanut Pie(Mary's New Mexico)

Place in saucepan seven ingredients.
Over medium heat cook, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Lower heat and cook two minutes more.
Remove from heat.
Stir one cup hot mixture slightly beaten yolks.
Return to heat.
Bring to a gentle boil and continue to cook two minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove in butter and vanilla. Pour into pastry shell.
Sprinkle chopped chocolate covered peanuts on top, while filling is still hot. If preferred you may want to add a meringue top at this time. Cool completely, then store in refrigerator.
