Ozark Mountain Stew
Ozark Mountain Stew is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 tbsp. flour, 1 tbsp. paprika, 2 tbsp. salt, 1 tsp. chili powder and 5 c. beef cubes, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine flour, paprika, salt and the one teaspoon chili powder. Dredge beef cubes in the flour mixture and brown in hot lard in Dutch oven.
Add onions and garlic; cook until soft.
Add tomatoes, 3 tablespoons chili powder, cinnamon, cloves and red pepper.
Cover and simmer 2 hours.
Add potatoes and carrots; cook until vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes.
Makes 8 servings.
