Old Time Gingerbread Cookies
Old Time Gingerbread Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 1/2 c. flour, 2 tsp. ginger, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Stir together flour, ginger, cinnamon, soda, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
In saucepan melt shortening.
Remove saucepan from heat.
Beat in sugar and molasses.
Then beat in eggs.
In large mixing bowl beat together the molasses mixture and 1/2 flour mixture.
Then gradually add rest of flour mixture.
Chill dough for about 1 hour.
Then on floured surface roll out dough about 1/2 at a time to about 1/4 inch.
Then, cut with cookie cutter (you can sprinkle with additional sugar if you like).
Bake at 375Β° for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are golden.
Cool, then frost if you like.
Makes about 50 cookies.
