Old Fashioned White Bread
Old Fashioned White Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. active dry yeast, 1/4 c. warm water, 2 c. milk, scalded, 2 tbsp. sugar and 1/4 c. butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Sprinkle dry yeast into the warm water.
Let stand a few minutes, then stir until dissolved.
Pour hot milk over butter, sugar and salt.
Cool to lukewarm and add yeast and 3 cups of flour.
Beat well.
Add remaining flour and mix well.
Turn out onto floured board and knead until smooth and satiny.
Put into a greased bowl; turn once.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down.
