Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. seedless raisins, 3/4 c. soft shortening, 2 eggs, 2 1/2 c. flour and 1 tsp. soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20 to 30 minutes.
Drain raisin liquid into measuring cup. Add water to make 1/2 cup.
Heat oven to 400Β°. Cream the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Stir in raisin liquid.
Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting. Blend flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
Stir in. Add rolled oats, nuts and raisins.
Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
