Old-Fashioned Boiled Custard
Old-Fashioned Boiled Custard is an easy dinner. Made with 1/2 gal. milk, 1 1/4 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 6 eggs and 2 tbsp. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Scald milk over low heat (be careful not to scorch).
Beat the eggs; set aside.
Mix the sugar and flour and add to the eggs and beat well.
Add 2 cups of the scalded milk to the egg and sugar mixture.
Now, pour this back into the pan with remainder of milk. Stir constantly to prevent lumps.
Cook over medium heat until custard begins to thicken; cool.
Add the vanilla.
