Old-Fashioned Banana Pudding
Old-Fashioned Banana Pudding is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, 2 c. milk and 3 eggs, separated, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Combine sugar, flour and salt in the double boiler.
Stir in milk.
Cook over boiling water, stirring until thickened.
Beat egg yolks and gradually stir in hot mixture.
Return to double boiler; cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; add vanilla.
Line 1-quart casserole with vanilla wafers.
Top with sliced bananas.
Pour portion of custard over bananas. Repeat, ending with custard on top.
Beat egg white stiff but not dry.
Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar and beat until mixture forms stiff peak.
Pile on top of pudding.
Bake in preheated 425Β° oven 5 minutes.
Serve warm or chilled.
