Old Berliner Frankfurter Skillet
Old Berliner Frankfurter Skillet is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 slices bacon, chopped, 1 small onion, minced, 1 c. chicken broth, 1/2 c. cider vinegar and 2 tbsp. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
In a large skillet, fry bacon five minutes.
Add onion and cook until it is tender.
Add broth , vinegar, sugar, pickling spice, salt and pepper.
Bring to a simmer, add cabbage, cover and simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Slash franks crosswise six or seven times, about 1/4 inch deep.
Place them over cooked cabbage.
Cover and cook for 15 minutes more.
