Mother's Flour Tortillas
Mother'S Flour Tortillas is an easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour, 1/2 c. shortening, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking powder and hot water (1 to 1 1/4 c.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Mix dry ingredients.
Blend in shortening.
Pour in hot water and stiff dough.
Knead on slightly floured breadboard until and pliable.
Cover dough with mixing bowl and allow to rest for about 30 minutes.
Preheat griddle. Form dough balls into biscuit-sized balls.
Roll out thin and bake ungreased griddle.
Tortillas top side begins to show some puffiness or blisters. Turn to other side and cook until lightly brown.
Keep covered in bread basket.
