Mom's Tea Cakes
Mom'S Tea Cakes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 3 eggs, 4 c. all-purpose flour and 2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cream shortening, gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed on mixer.
Add eggs one at a time.
Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Mix well, stir in almond extract.
Cover and chill for 1 hour.
Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness on floured surface.
Cut with 2 1/4-inch round cookie cutter.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350Β° for 15 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired.
