Mom's Homemade Brown Sugar Candy
Mom'S Homemade Brown Sugar Candy is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. brown sugar, 4 c. white sugar, 4 tbsp. flour, 1/2 c. (13 oz.) condensed milk and 1 to 2 tbsp. butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine sugar, flour and butter in a large saucepan. Gradually add milk and mix thoroughly.
Bring this to a boil, without stirring unless it is sticking.
Reduce heat to medium and continue to boil until a small amount of mixture forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water.
Remove from heat, place in a pan of cold water to cool.
When cool enough, candy should have a grain to it.
Add vanilla, then beat until candy begins to thicken. Quickly add nuts and scoop candy into a buttered 9 x 13-inch cake pan and spread around.
Cut when cooled.
