Mom's Fruit Cobbler

Heat oven to 350Β°.
Butter a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish or saucepan, heat sugar and water until sugar is melted.
Shortening flour until crumbly. Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves side of bowl. Roll dough into large rectangle
1/2-inch thick on a floured board after it has been kneaded until smooth. Sprinkle fruit evenly dough and roll up like jelly roll.
Slice dough into
16 slices 1/2-inch thick.
Pan with melted butter.
Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls.
Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
