In 3-quart microwave-safe casserole, stir together light brown sugar, granulated sugar, water, corn syrup and butter.

Cover with lid or plastic wrap, turning back one section to vent steam. Microwave at High setting (100% power) 8 minutes, stirring after 4 minutes.

Stir in pecans and vanilla.

Cover again, and microwave 2 minutes more.

Stir in confectioners sugar until well blended. Continue stirring for 1 to 2 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken and loses its gloss.

Quickly drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto buttered waxed paper (if mixture becomes too thick to drop from a spoon, stir in a few drops hot water).

Let pralines stand until set.

Carefully remove pralines from waxed paper.

Store between layers of foil in airtight container.

Makes about 20 pralines.
