Preheat oven to 325Β° and butter a 10-inch (1 1/2-quart) pie plate.
Arrange the cranberries on the bottom of the pie plate and sprinkle them with the nuts and 1/2 cup of the sugar.
With an electric mixer, beat the eggs and beat in the remaining 1 cup sugar gradually. Add the flour, butter and shortening. Beat the batter until smooth. Spoon the batter over the cranberry mixture and bake the pie in the middle of the oven for 1 hour or until the top is golden.
