Layered Ground Beef Casserole
Layered Ground Beef Casserole is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 large onions, sliced, divided in half, 1 c. sliced celery, divided in half, 1 large green pepper, seeded and sliced, divided in half, salt and pepper and 1 1/2 lb. ground beef, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
In 2-quart casserole, layer half the onion, celery and green pepper; season with salt and pepper.
Top with beef; season 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.
Pour on tomato sauce.
Top with remaining onion, celery and green pepper; season with salt and pepper.
Arrange potatoes over top; spread with soup.
Bake uncovered in 350° oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until potatoes are tender and top is slightly browned.
Do not stir.
Makes 6 servings.
Can be made a day ahead and reheated.
Freezes well. Thaw, then cover and reheat in 350° oven.
