Combine sugar, salt and corn syrup in large heavy saucepan; heat to boiling point.
Cook to 245° or firm-ball stage, stirring occasionally.
Add butter and cream slowly so that mixture does not stop boiling at any time.
Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture returns to 245°.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla.
Mix well.
