Italian Tomato Sauce(Serves 6)
Italian Tomato Sauce(Serves 6) is an impressive dinner. Made with 12 oz. tomato paste, 1 (no. 2 1/2) can italian style tomatoes, 2 tbsp. oil, 1/4 c. finely chopped onion and 1 small clove garlic, finely chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Fry onion, garlic and celery slowly in the oil about 5 minutes.
Crush tomatoes.
Add to paste and the onion, celery and garlic.
Add all other ingredients and simmer in a heavy covered pan 1 hour.
Then add the meat balls and simmer, covered, about 30 minutes longer.
(Cooked mushrooms may be added last 15 minutes.) If sauce becomes too thick, add a little water.
