Italian Cream Cake

Cream butter with shortening and sugar.
Add egg yolks, one at a time.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla, nuts and coconut.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in 3 greased and floured 8-inch round cake pans at 350Β° for 25 minutes.
Cool and frost.
