Irish Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. bisquick, 1/4 tsp. baking soda (scant), 1 c. raisins, 4 tbsp. sugar (optional) and 1 c. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Mix first 4 ingredients about 2 minutes.
Add buttermilk and stir with spoon.
Knead with floured hands, turning over several times until stickiness disappears.
Turn into deep pie plate, 9-inch or deeper if higher loaf is desired.
Cut a cross on top with tip of knife.
Bake at 375° for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° for 40 minutes.
Test with knife blade (pushed in).
Knife comes out clean when done.
Sprinkle top with powdered sugar if you want it a little sweeter.
