Honey Cake (Honigkuchen)
Honey Cake (Honigkuchen) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 16 oz. honey, 2 sticks oleo or butter, 5 3/4 c. flour, 1/2 c. sugar and 4 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
In a large bowl place flour, baking powder, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves; stir until blended.
Bring honey and oleo to boil; remove from heat, keep stirring until lukewarm.
Pour over flour mixture; add eggs.
Beat until smooth.
Divide evenly into greased and floured loaf pans (9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 3/4-inches).
Bake in preheated oven at 350Β° for 60 minutes.
Set pans on cake rack for 15 minutes; loosen around edges and place on platters.
