Homemade Bean Soup
Homemade Bean Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. pea navy beans, 2 pieces celery, diced, 1/4 lb. lean ham, diced, salt and pepper to taste and 2 carrots, diced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Rinse beans thoroughly.
Put beans in a large cooking pan. Cover with water, about 3/4 to the top of the pan. Add carrots, celery, onion and ham. Cook on medium heat about 1 1/2 hours.
Add butter, salt and pepper.
Cook 1 hour longer or until beans are done.
You can cook with lid on or off pan.
You may need to add more water while cooking.
Add more water to make as thin as you want the juice to be.
