Grandmama Cobb's Pound Cake
Grandmama Cobb'S Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. softened butter, 1/2 c. crisco, 5 medium eggs, separated, 2 c. self-rising flour, sifted and 1 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Beat egg whites stiff, but not dry.
Set aside.
Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
Add yolks of eggs.
Beat thoroughly.
Then add egg whites and beat.
Add flour and milk alternately, with flour first and last.
Pour into well-greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 325Β° for 45 to 50 minutes.
Do not open oven for 45 minutes.
One-half cup of coconut may be added, if desired.
