Grandma's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
Grandma'S Sour Cream Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 c. butter or margarine, 1/4 c. vegetable shortening, 2 c. light brown sugar and 3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) cake pans. Cream butter or margarine, shortening, brown sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; cream until very light and fluffy.
Blend in melted chocolate and sour cream.
Beat 1 minute at medium speed to mix well about 150 strokes by hand.
Blend in sifted dry ingredients and water.
Beat 3 minutes 450 strokes by hand.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.
Cool in pans 10 minutes.
Ice with creamy vanilla frosting.
