Grandma's Apple Corn Bread

In the top of double boiler, mix the corn meal, sugar, salt, milk and butter.
Set over hot water and cook about 10 minutes. Cool and add eggs, soda (dissolved in water) and apples.
Bake in greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan at 400Β° about 25 minutes or until done.
