Gran's Clamchowder
Gran'S Clamchowder is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 50 clams (scrubbed good), 1/2 lb. bacon, 2 large onions, 3 stalks celery and 1 lb. bag carrots, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Steam open clams, cool and chop.
Bacon until well done. Fry onion and celery until brown.
Use water from steaming for broth.
Add some water (to taste) to cut down broth.
To broth add carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes, crushed bacon and fat, pepper, thyme.
Bring to boil, then simmer until carrots are soft.
Then add chopped clams, simmer for 15 minutes longer.
