Gingerbread
Gingerbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/3 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. cloves and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Sift flour with baking powder, spices and salt; set aside. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and beat thoroughly.
Combine boiling water and molasses.
Stir in soda until dissolved and add to batter.
Gradually add flour mixture, stirring well between each addition.
Pour into a well-greased 8-inch square pan or 8-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 20 to 30 minutes.
Cool in pan until gingerbread shrinks away from sides and then invert onto rack and cool completely.
